Agreed 100% and to be honest, this is my wifes reason for making guy characters too... nothing wrong with it!

The only thing that is really wrong is when guys make girl chars and dance naked for money...and actually get it. Now what does that say about some of the people who play this game?

Well, when they make the majority of the male models pretty darn ugly (compare male warriors and necros with the female equivalent) and the rest look like they are more concerned with breaking a nail (or bald) then it's no real competition is it ? And I'm sure Anet knew what they were doing when they designed the Kurzick female warrior armour....

I'm male and all my PvE characters are male. It doesn't bother me because I look mostly surroundings, not my character's butt. There is enough women butt at outdoors, porn magazines/videos or other related stuff. I don't need it everywhere.

It is okay if someone want to play with almost half-naked women characters. The bad thing is that everyone who play as female, are forced to wear minor armors. Females aren't worth any attention if at least half of their body isn't visible? Some female FoW armor visuals are focused more to functional side but they are a bit expensive for average player.

One major reason why I prefer male character, is their armors which often is more believable and another reason is to avoid all kind of perverts which assume or ask if I'm female. This is just a game but playing as female feels weird in long term. Short PvP matches are sometimes fun with tiny women and because names change often, you can hide from weird stalkers. A bit paranoid but I have some bad experiences.

Male here, with a bunch of kids and grandkids. Most of my gaming characters are male, but have played plenty of females, critters, robots, and you-name-its. Having done a fair amount of fiction writing, dropping into another role is not a problem. As far as game ethics goes, I don't start or put up with any BS.

Current GW toons: 5 male, 1 female.

Male with all Female chars, for the same reason I'd rather look at a female chars backside when playing and for the fact my Necro now looks like a Biker Babe with leather and fishnets

It's because kids and idiots are allowed to play the game

My first (Monk) character is a male one.
As my second i made a male ele, who even survived to lvl 20 and a 15k armor...but then i recognized he looked soo gay, that i deleted him and from then on, i only made female characters.

I create a character, because i want him to look good....and as a guy, female characters look good to me.

I remember the days when Ultima Online was brand-new and Everquest was still in development.

In Ultima Online you'd see a female once out of every 30 or 40 characters. Since PvP was a big factor in the original Ultima Online, neither guys nor gals wanted to "appear weak" and encourage griefers to attack them.

In fact, I remember trading ICQ numbers with quite a few of the females in Ultima Online, and about 85% of them turned out to be females in real life (much to my surprise).

When Everquest came out, I noticed that more and more females were being played by guys, probably because they were hot (unlike the females in Ultima Online were).

These days, it's very common for guys to play females. It's probably the 3-d graphics and the fact that the females in these games have super-model figures.

If you paid for the game and the options are there, you should be able to play however you want and screw anyone else if they criticize you for it.

well..... never really thought about which character I would pick (m or F). I'm a guy so I just picked guys. I did however make my wife a character that was female and since she gave up playing I took over and play it....
BUT....I also agree somewhat with the "asthetics" of what some people are saying....if you are a guy what would you rather look at...? I for one would much rather look at the girls. So with that in mind I made a female Rt cause I figured if I was going to wear a skirt I should be a girl....lol

I'm a girl in real life, all my characters are girls. I usually get asked at least once a day if i'm a real girl. I think it's funny, what dif does it make?

Male IRL, all but 1 female in game.

It's just that, all the male characters are unappealing to me and I rather have a female char because they look better.

I'm thinking of deleting my male Ranger (first char) but I've put lots of time into it so I'm not sure.

I still remember the first time my first female character was e-molested. It was horrible. ;_;

That aside, I think that many players are just super horn-dog teens messing around with their game. It doesn't bug me so much anymore.

4 male characters 2 females, only because i like the look of female monks and necromancers over the males, and i still get people that ask if i'm a girl even when i told the party i'm not >.<
